Could it be a V-8 with DOD (displacement on demand) like GM uses and we hear it running on V-6 mode? JK. Maybe they are just using a current gen truck to test the new suspension parts.

With the GMC announcement yesterday, there is a snowballs chance in hell it is anything other than a hybrid 3.5. As I have said, probably around 620 HP, and 650 Ft/lbs. Blows the TRX out of the water plus gets 24 per.
