So I owned a gen 1 screw. I had it for a few years and sold it ive gone through a few cars/trucks since, and have been wanting to get into a new gen 2 for a bit. Im frugal with my money and refuse to pay mark ups on raptors; which in my area is the gold standard.

I admired the raptor from afar but purchased a 2018 ecoboost 3.5 screw with the FX4 package. I hate leather so I ordered it with the sport cloth seats and the 302a package. I leveled it out put wheels and tires on it and love the truck, but I got that itch for a raptor real bad again once this pandemic hit and started looking around. I saw dealers were going under MSRP. I wanted a raptor with cloth seats (im a police K9 handler so ole spot rides with my sometimes) and the cloth is always easier to clean, doesnt show age like leather does etc.. Anyway I saw that I needed to get the 800a package, which surprisingly has * I think* almost exactly what I have in my current truck with the 302a.

Long story short I think i'm going to purchase a SCAB with an 800a package. I have no real need for this truck, more of a want. My current truck is nice and does everything I need.

I was looking at the SCREWS on dealer lots but they are still about 10k more than what I am looking at and I cant find many with cloth seats. I have one daughter who's 6 so no space issues. I don't take long road trips often and my car sits 4 days a week as I have a take home car for work. The SCAB I test drove seemed to have the same amount of room about as a toyota tacoma 4 door.

What do y'all think? Anyone else from a xlt or similar f-150 and go to a raptor? I heard the scabs have rattles, but that could just be a random occurrence like anything else.

And now I'm trying to convince "what's-her-name" that while we don't need a Raptor, considering we have a perfectly good truck with only 18K miles on the odo, I think we should help support our dealer and buy a 2019 SCREW that's on their lot. So far I've had little success...

Armoredveh, you sound alot like me. Had a 2014 Ruby Red SE, sold it in 2016, went through a few different vehicles before buying a new XLT in 2018. Just traded that one yesterday, with 9000 miles on it, on a loaded 2019 Velocity Blue Raptor.

I regretted selling the 2014 within months, and now I'm glad to be back in a Raptor! As for the wife, it's better to ask forgiveness...lol. Just don't tell her I said that!

Socalbeachbum, that's a personal decision and some guys wouldn't have a super crew. But if you aren't 100% sure, there are plenty of discounted Raptors to choose from. Get what you really want!

Look on autotrader if you want an 800A scab. You may have to bump the search radius out quite a bit, even nationwide, but there should be deals out there. HB will have nothing nearby, it's all 802A screws.

Pro tip: if you're willing to travel to get it...search at 500 mile range, then edit the URL so it's 1200 miles or so (just change the URL text where it says "range=500"). If you just search for all F-150s with Raptor "trim" and sort by price, the 800As scabs should float to the top.

I had a Gen 1 and now have a Gen 2 Raptor Crew. I also have a few regular F-150s (XLT's)...own a land surveying business.
I actually prefer leather for the reason that it's easier to clean after my dog rides in the truck...but that's just my personal preference. I didn't think Raptors had cloth as an option...
I'm not a Ford guy or a Chevy guy or anything like that, but I think 2016+ Ford F150 is one of the best vehicles a person can buy. I love my 2017 XLT. That being said, my Gen 2 Raptor is a Rousch version (serial #1). I bought that because I refused to pay over sticker price (bought for 80K vs 83K sticker...yeah, yeah, weird thinking I know).
Anyway...I think you'll love the new Raptor. Is it head and shoulders better than an XLT? Probably not, but it has a wow factor, and still makes me smile 2 years later.

Personally If I was to buy another raptor it would be a 2013-14. They are holding their value and the 2017+ aren’t selling even though the dealers still mark them up and tell you they are hard to get, they just sit on the lot until another moron walks up, buys it, then a month later realizes he’s paying $900 a month for a truck with decent suspension and a power train they shoulda left in a mid sized vehicle, and then he trades it in and loses his ass on it. Hate the eco boost motor, hate the 10 speed tranny, yea it’s faster but feels like crap constantly shifting, trying to build boost, it’s like a v6 mustang trying to work like it’s a v8 and it’s not. Got rid of my 2017 within 2 months. Whatever Ford was thinking by putting that motor in a raptor they must be out of their mind. It would be a good truck if they ripped out the electronics and that motor and transmission. God I hate that motor in the raptor. That’s my opinion and yes I know people will bitch and cry about it, but again it’s the truth, my 2014 had zero issues ever, the gen 2 not so much.
