Under-seat Sub Enclosures

I'm leaning toward the Memphis 12" sub. It looks like the only enclosure that will work with the 15-MCP12D4 is the MTX Thunderform and it's 1.0 cubic foot of sealed volume. Memphis recommends a minimum of .85 cubic feet, but says the optimum volume is 1.36. http://www.memphiscaraudio.com/documents/Updated 2010 Enclosure Recommendations.pdf
The sub has a 5.6" mounting depth and the MTX allows 5.625".

EDIT: I just noticed the MTX enclosure is only available in 10".....FOCK! Looks like it's gonna likely be a Memphis 10" with one of the cheapo enclosures.

I don't know a lot about stereos but, doesn't the amp have a lot to do with the sound too? so new sub with factory amp still probably wont sound GREAT?

The factory amp should be replaced as well as the sub if you want any improvements. Most people go cheap on the amp and that's the biggest mistake you can make. I will have plenty of power using a JL Audio 500/1.

You're definitely going to want to replace your amp. I used to have 2 Boston Acoustics G1 10s in my truck with an Alpine PDX 1.600 amp. The amp was nice and small and it was a digital amp so that helped too. I'm sure you could do this in your truck. Have you thought about the shallow mount JL's (the TW series I believe)? They are pricey, but apparently sound as good as the W3's.

I did a seat lift on my current truck, Titan, and I'm running 2 12" RE Audio SE's with a 1000 watt Sundown Mono-Block amp.

The only problem with those subs are the fact that they only come in one size....13.5" So, you'd have to get a custom box fabbed up. And I'm not even sure if that large of a diameter would fit.

there's about 12" of depth from the rear firewall to the edge of the back seat for usable sub diameter space. No way it will fit height wise- I think we only have 9" to work with. So you're correct. 10" would be ideal, 12" will work.

Very true...but I've always run custom boxes built for my subs.

As have I, but the underseat dimensions are the limiting factor here; similar to that of the trunk opening of days passed. "Shit, how are we gonna get this box in the trunk now!?"

On a side note, ProBox e-mailed me back today and said they'd ship their loaded 2 8" sub enclosure to me for 600 otd. Problem is, no SCab application. So, you SCrew guys interested, give them a holler....

Ahh, I didn't realize you were a SCab...yeah that will definitely limit your options rather substantially. Perhaps you could swing 1 8" or 10" ported and forward firing. That may be your only option.

Has anyone looked into these Shallow Mount | Pioneer Electronics USA. I had two of these in my Silverado Single cab. Then put them into my 97 Eclipse GST.
