So Birdman, i know nothing about car audio, just love bass and need something that can keep up with some quick double-bass hits and has a shallow enough mounting depth to fit in one of those boxes, any suggestions? or just what youve already posted?

the quality of the amp will also help with tight responsive bass. the subs I posted will certainly work. a 10" in a sealed box will sound tight and punchy probably how you want. sealed boxes are better for rock, vented is better for rap. that Alpine type S is a decent sub, couple it with a good amp and i bet you would be happy. the 12" type S will also work with the 12" super crew sound box- 5" mounting depth.

I guess I'm just so fond of JL that I don't think to consider anything else. I'll have to reconsider my options though because as in any stock stereo system, I will not be happy. Stereo is usually the first mod I do to a new car. After tint that is, which is scheduled the first day I drive off the lot. The ink on the finance paperwork is not even dry when I get tinted.

I have a JL 500/1 amp (removed from my last daily driver) sitting in the closet waiting to be installed in my Raptor when it gets here. I have time to decide on the sub because Ford surely is taking their sweet ass time in building my Raptor.

W3 will sound good, no?

edit: won't fit in that box

MTX is too proud of their shit. Asking $300 for an unloaded box. :nono:

The only problem with the first choice is the mounting depth. Not many of the GOOD subs will fit.

BTW, Here's another choice for you to consider. Price isn't bad, but I have the same concern as far as mounting depth. https://www.soundoffaudio.com/item.cfm/id/2994

That looks very similar to the box that SuperCrewSound makes. Gonna have to email them both and see who has better quality and customer service. Thanks for the link.
