Will these eliminate any of the front steering wheel 'wobble' us offroaders have developed, while on the street?

It will help tighten everything up a bit. But we really need to get you the arms we talked about to help lock everything down.

Newbie question

Since RPG said questions are welcome, I have two newbie questions... First, why aluminum instead of steel? Won't it bend easier if hit by rock, even if strong enough along its axis? Second, doesn't that stock rod have a rubber boot around it? I don't know what its for, but guess to keep dirt and grit out of a seal? Does boot fit around new rod, or is it no longer needed?

I only ask to learn, as I think this will be my first upgrade, when I get the truck... Thanks!

Excellent question.

We have made TR out of both aluminum and steel. Most commonly we have
made them out of aluminum, but have also had a few requests for Heat
Treated Steel.

Once again this is not a trophy truck, but lets take what we have
learned from School and Real World Experiences and apply it to this
application.

School will tell you;
Steel 0.095" wall thickness VS. Aluminum Solid Bar
the SAME Outer Diameter.
When we APPLY (add Compression Force slowly) an Axial Load, Steel Wins.
This is found from an equation called Euler's Column Buckling NOTE K = 1
Buckling - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Don't forget to check Slenderness ratio.

Real World will tell you;
Aluminum will deform farther before a ultimate failure will occur,
meaning that the steering box will be attached to the knuckle for a
harder impact. Absorption of energy is directly proportional to the
distance of deformation. We have seen Steel Tie Rods break when you hit
a rock. Aluminum Tie Rods bend out of the way.

once you have come to a rest from the object impacting your Tie Rod, you need to
get home. In the middle of Mexico or the local desert, how do you get
home with a bent tie rod? (replace it if you have a spare handy)
Remove your trailer hitch and stick your bent tie rod into the
receiver. Grab your floor jack and jack up your truck under the tie
rod and use the floor jack as a make shift press to press it back
straight. This has been done this with both aluminum and steel. The steel
tie rods have a tendency to crush then break. The aluminum rods
straighten out pretty well. Apply some heat from a torch if you have
one....

With regards to the boot. We can supply a boot if you would like, but the clevis rod ends and pins are stainless steel. We have found that horizontal boots really only trap dirt in vs. keeping dirt out.

Hope this answers your questions.

You can contact me through PM or purchase them at our online store if you would like.

Oh one more thing... They look AWESOME.

Thanks,

Jarrett
