I used to run the Truck Lite LED headlights on my Hummer H1's before I got the Raptor, and they were awesome. The light output was great but the beam pattern was a little weird on low beam (they were the previous models that looked like a "bundle of flashlights" when they were on low beam). I would run LEDs on my Raptor in a heart beat. In the winter snow build up was not a problem; the outside of headlight never got hot enough to melt the snow and cause it to freeze on the lens so any snow you got while driving was just a thin dusting. Any build up you had from sitting for a while just fell off first bump you hit. All the head generated by the LEDs came off the back of the headlight where the heatsink was. Me personally I wish someone would develop a drop in LED bulb you could replace the HID bulb in projector housings with. You would need different electronics to replace the HID ballast and whatnot, but it would just be a simple bulb swap rather than a whole headlight housing replacement. Something like the LED emitter in the Light Cannons would be sweet...

The new truck lite led's fixed that weird beam pattern and it doesn't look like a bunch of flashlights anymore. Did you sell the H1's?

Yeah I did. I had a '95 with a 350 and a '99 with a diesel. The 95 was pretty beat up and I was gonna make a wheeling rig out of it and the '99 was my DD. After I had a couple kids I just found my available free time slip away and it went from tinkering on the '95 all the time to not having enough time to keep up on maintenance on the '99, so I sold the '95 and traded in the '99 on a Rubicon that I subsequently traded in on the Raptor. The Raptor is cool but the Hummers were totally different beasts that were just awesome. Oh well. Hopefully someday I'll get another one. As for the LED's the headlights I had were like rev 4 of the first gens, and they did improve the beam pattern quite a bit by like rev. 6 or whatever the last rev was. IIRC they revised the lenses and had another LED stay on during low beam. And you are right, the new ones are totally different beasts and are way nicer. My wife has a '72 FJ40 and I was thinking about getting them for it; she just isn't convinced they fit the "look" of the FJ.

Came across these, no clue on price but at 90mm they possibility could retrofit into 2013 lights.

JW Speaker 90mm LED Projector For Headlight Retrofit - Low Beam

I have seen these installed in an f150 headlight. It took a lot of Fab work and cost for good but not great output. Another retrofitter who does f150's mainly did it for his truck. They do look pretty cool

I am waiting to get an Alpha but their value just keep going higher and higher. Should have bought one in '06/'07. Great collection you had there. I know the very few people that had the 350 loved them, but the gas mileage was horrible. Was the '99 a turbo?

I remember talking to some of the very first owners and they were telling me about the times when the maintenance was just an oil change every 3k. Now it's something new every day haha

Yeah Nick, did you see the output shots from that JW, it was a joke. Ill see if Bill will send me a pic. The heads looked pretty cool though.

Ill comment on the heat issue, when you have single led's that put out 1000+ lumen it becomes a huge issue. Now say you were to have 8 of those led's in an array you would need some sort of a cooling system for sure to keep them operating at peak efficiency.:mwah1:

Yeah Dawson I agree the output compared to a hid in a good projector is night and day. Mh1's are brighter never mind any of the other better projectors

People I have had the LED DOT lights--they are just ok. The HID for example the 50 watt Raptor Retrofit lights with a Osram bulb spank any LED Headlight I have ever seen. The LED is great but the heat issue is something that will have to be overcome or reliability will be a huge issue.

Yeah the '99 was a turbo. I have to say I did love the gasser, and that's probably what I would get if I bought another one. It sounded awesome with glass packs and under the hood was so much simpler. But it did get like 8MPG. Not that that is any worse than the Raptor. :)
