So how about we flip the situation around. Everyone knows used vehicles depreciate and that makes it a good deal for secondhand buyers. Unfortunately for used Raptor buyers, 3 and 4 year old trucks in good condition are selling for nearly the same price as they were new.

So the question for all the high-and-mighty people who criticize dealers for charging market prices on popular vehicles, when it comes time to sell your highly sought after used truck, are you going to sell it for the typical and "fair" used car discount, or are you going to squeeze every dollar you can out of your highly sought after used truck?

Hypocrites are hypocrites.

So if I read this right you are using the value of a used Raptor if depreciated according to car industry averages vs what used raptors are going for right now.

So for fun lets say I'm an idiot with more money than brains or, according to some, buying a raptor in a free market. I buy a Raptor at +10k over MSRP and I'm the greedy one for selling the truck for 10k over a raptors value according to average depreciation?

People will pay what they think the truck is worth new or used. For people who do some research it isn't hard to find MSRP deals. I think for loyal ford owners it's actually a pretty good way to see how committed the local dealers are to their old customers.

You don't have any loyalty to your dealer if you are always looking for the cheapest price, so why should he show any loyalty to you?

It is perfectly reasonable for you to search for the best price. Just like it is perfectly reasonable for him to wait for the buyer willing to spend the most money.

Lets quit fooling ourselves. The people who complain about markups are just butthurt because they are too cheap to buy the vehicle they want.

Funny thing is if Ford mandated MSRP, demand would overwhelm supply and everyone would be complaining about the 2 year long waitlists to buy a Raptor.

Word, I feel the same way

Almost every single person here shops around for the best deal when they have the leverage

And almost every single person here is bitching because the dealer has the leverage with the Raptor

Don't hate free markets when you're on the wrong side of it
