Eco boost raptor?!?

I look at it like this. The mechanics are a big part but the looks carry the day. Chevy has a long way to go in the looks department. That is one of the big reasons so many folks want and like a Raptor even if they never go off road. If Ford changes the mechanics either for better or worse (depending upon your opinion) but lightens the weight and keeps a strong off road look I expect they will continue to lead the way in this catagory. I mean they have cornered the truck market for several decades and I expect they don't plan to run second fiddle to any other brand in the "off road" catagory either.

The new F150 is a start and stop system. In the city the engine will stop at the lights and start up when you want it to.
Only for the 2.7L Ecoboost though.

I'm suspecting we'll see engine changes or improvements when the new trans is supposed to come out in a couple years.

Does that truck have a lift or run on 35's? All that has an impact.

It also isn't hard to drive 68 miles on flat ground and post numbers that may not reflect reality.

I can get 18 mpg in my Raptor on flat ground at 65mph.

The raptor can get great fuel economy too! I found one of the contributing factors to be the fuel you use. I switched to Shell gas which has 0% ethanol unlike most fuels in Alberta and after about 2-3 tanks of fuel I definitely noticed a difference. I drive back and forth from Edmonton to Cold lake every 2 weeks (about 306km one way) and I got 13.7L/100km or for our American cousins 20.61 MPG. All of this with an average speed of 70mph :jawdrop:

I would've gotten an Eco 3.5 Raptor if they offered one. Yes the 6.2 sounds cool but the Eco is so quiet that it's nice, especially for hunting/sneaking thru somewhere. The Eco is definitely stealthy.
Yep the stock Eco lags but with a tune it smokes and is so much fun to drive. Actually I think the 6.2 sucks now compared to my tuned Eco, but will likely tune my Raptor before long.
Keep in mind to the eco puts out 420 lb-ft of torque at only 2500 RPM stock
the 6.2 puts out 434 lb-ft of torque at 4500 RPM stock
2000 RPM difference for only 14 lb-ft of torque gained stock
Granted too much torque can be an issue with spinning too easily, but to have that torque at low RPMs helps it be quiet....

What kind of mileage economy does your tuned Eco boost get? Just curious... I have heard some rumors they are over 20.

I wish I could get that. I get about 17 hwy. if I drove the speed limit I would do better, but I generally go 5 over and most of my routes have decent elevation changes. I have the heaviest model, screw 6.5' bed, 4x4, 3.73 Lariat loaded. Since my tune I've been towing a lot so I do not have a good comparison for before and after. Towing mileage sucks, but I have all kinds of power and don't think much about passing while towing like I did with stock, but even stock has a good amount of power, just not the response especially with a load.
I have a buddy with a 3.31 scab XLT 4x4 6.5' box that regularly gets over 20 hwy. At 75 mph he drops to just below 20mpg.

I traded in my 13 Limited for the 14 raptor and gas mileage is very similar. Eco 14.8 vs. 15 on the 6.2 on the same 100 mile daily round trip to work. With only 600 miles on the 6.2 I have hope for some marginal improvement. Stock for stock the raptor is quicker to about 60. I had an aggressive tune on the ecoboost and it pulled hard in the high gears where the 6.2 seems to struggle with the weight. I really like the Raptor and don't regret my decision.
Now for a tune on the 6.2 and I'll report back.

Crap, I live in Medicine Hat and running to and from Calgary the best I can get with my Screw is 18l/100 , Do you have an Scab ? What Year?

Interesting and weird comparison.
The pic shows 3500, but you said 2500. So going by the pic from a 1/2 ton truck to a 1 ton truck.
