I bought a 3-ton, I had a different brand 2-ton jack that failed on me when I was lifting the truck by the receiver hitch. I can lift the whole side of the truck at a time with the 3-ton.

Depends on what you want it for. I wanted one that was light and to use when off-roading to be able change a tire quickly or get one corner up to fix something. If I was using it only in the garage then I would get a 3+ ton one and not worry about getting the aluminum racing one as those are cheaper anyways.

Most run the the 2 ton for offroad use. It's fine for changing tires and what not. It's also light than the 3 ton. Plus, I believe there are only skids for the 2 ton.
