Default Upfitter / AUX Switches - Power On All The Time?
Haven't seen this before...

Is it possible to configure Upfitter Switches to be hot all the time?

Apparently it IS possible to configure the Super Duty Upfitter Switches: Aux #5 & #6 to be hot all the time according to this:

Unfortunately the 150's don't use the same distribution box. But... I made this video on how it is possible:

Thanks but I'm not sure I understand how you suggest we make AUX 5 & AUX 6 on all the time? Can you spell it out in layman's terms what needs to be done to make them hot 24/7?

Thanks!

I can surely try.

So the aux switch assembly has 2 wires going to it when the ignition is on. One wire is for switches 1-4 and the other one is for 5&6. So on our Raptors, both of those wires only come on when the ignition is on, as you know.

So what you need to do, is cut one of those and then run a wire (switch side) from there to somewhere that has power 24/7, which could be found at the fuse box or even the battery if needed.

Then I'd just tape off the other side of the wire that you cut so it doesn't short out on anything when you turn your ignition on.

So if you wanted all 6 switches to be available all the time, then you'd cut both wires and run them to a constant power.

Pin 5 runs switches 5&6 (5amp switches) brown/white
Pin 11 runs switches 1-4 (15&10amp switches) brown/white

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks! That's great - just what I was looking for. And thanks for providing the wire colors which is super helpful.

PS: I have no plans to do this mod at this time but I can see me wanting to be able to power up AUX switches (some/all) and when I do I'll be able to make that happen thanks to your helpful info.

Do you happen to have any pics of the inside of the overhead AUX switchpanel showing the switches and the wiring?

I took a screen cap of from your video - wondering if you have any pics...

So I guess if you can trace where the 5/6 power wire originates, you could move that end to constant power without having to run a new wire.

By the way, does anyone else find the factory switches too easy to hit by accident? I've had three or four occasions when I've looked up and seen one or two of them on. I guess I'm hitting them somehow when I'm getting my sunglasses out. I wish the switches required a bit more force to operate.
