Does anyone know why when I install the hypertech max energy tuner why all of a sudden my valves ping like hell. Keeps doing it until I uninstall the tuner then it's fine. Am I missing something here or what?

Do you have the right octane fuel for the tune?

Yes, got the right fuel in it. I installed the lower octane fuel. Do you think I should try the higher octane fuel install or could it be something else?

Maybe I will return it. Don't really want to buy high octane if I don't have to. Plus it shouldn't be doing that with the lower octane to begin with. Plus I just tried plugging it in and now the screen is blank and I can't get anything out of it. Do you recommend a tuner that I can buy?

yeah, those pre packaged tunes are crap. every one of our trucks are different, there's no possible way for a company to sell 1 tune that will make every Raptor run correctly(or any of them). I suggest you return it, and get yourself a 5 Star tune. Then, if you have any issues you make a phone call, they will tweak it for you and just email you a new tune until everything is perfect. don't take a gamble on that one you have, it's probably way off and making you truck run like crap, possibly damaging it.

Forgive me being a DA but if one is worried about an out of the "box" tune how is 5 star better than the others??? Isn't an in shop tune more reliable and more individualizied for our rides??? I'm definitely, not an engine mech though... Least not automotive.

The point is that 5 star is ford specialists and they have been able to dial in their tunes better. And if u do have an issue of knocking or hard shifting etc then they are a phone call away to dial it in to run properly. There are far too many variables for a canned tune to nail it or even come close.
