radar detector install

for those of you asking about radar detectors this is what I had to do today at work. once again its not a ford but you get the picture. this is the passport 9500ci a radar/laser detector and diffuser. as you can see this unit has to be hardwired into the vehicle. you always want to run your cables with the factory cables. that way you never have to worry about pinching a cable or getting in the way of something else. i did have to pull the front bumper off.
below the steering wheel to the left is where you can mount the speaker for the detector. I also mounted the gps antenna in a hidden location

some more pics. this is why it is called an undetectable. because you cant hardly see it and its got vg2 protection as well

this is the control unit for the 9500. all he has to do if he gets pulled over is close the door and it is completely hidden. no radar on the windshield here

Are these legal or illegal? I think the consequences are pretty stiff in my area if you get caught with one.

I believe detectors are legal everywhere except Virginia an military installations. Laser countermeasures are state dependent.
Anyone have a rec for installing a Laser Interceptor near Fresno? I'd be willing to travel within reason for a good install.
