I haven't found any threads on this so I'm making one. But does anyone on the forum have any experience with either the physical work of swapping the 2011 console electronics (stereo, A/C, radio, etc) for the newer 2014 system? And if so, are all the electronics self contained or will there be compatibility issues?

Yes it's self contained or yes there will be issues?
2013 and 2014 use a different plug behind the radio. its a 54 pin plug that contains multiple data lines. 2010-2012 uses a standard 24 pin ford plug behind the radio with 2 data lines. 2010-12 are microsoft sync while 2013-14 is myfordtouch. very similiar platform, different internal workings. 2010-12 had a dvd drive. 2013-14 do not. 2013-14 only have heated and cooled seat controls from touchscreen. 2010-12 have touch screen controls as well as physical buttons. 2010-12 has internal hard drive for music (jukebox) 2013-14 do not. the list goes on. but to get these features to work on a vehicle that it was not intended for, will cost you more than you would ever want to spend.
