How far out is the bulge?

I have the red ones. They stick out at least 1/2 in. sides and rear. I like the lighting graphics but don't like the bulge. Just today I saw some nice looking led tails on ebay for half the price that I would probably have bought instead. The bulge is probably fine on a Raptor but on a regular f150 I'm still not sure.
