There is some great stuff in the West Valley that sees comparatively little traffic. I10 and Miller road, head north for 1/2 mile, turn on left Salome Highway. There is access to heaps of stuff out there between White Tanks and Sun Valley Parkway.
I didn't want it, but I found a truck spec'd perfectly down the road at MSRP, so I went with it.
I live in the mountains and I actually like having it open now because you can see the peaks and you don't have to hang out the window for a view.
It's also nice to get more light into the cabin...
You'll be fine and you'll have a great time. Don't be afraid to look at some of the other trails in the area too. Imogene is great, so is Yankee Boy Basin (super pretty, do both in the same day) and then there's Last Dollar Road which is easy but really scenic.
The only problem with a full size turbo diesel on these passes is finding places to pass people. Heaps of power.
As previously mentioned, full size trucks run these with tourists on the back all day.
I didn't do black bear. I've done it a few times and really don't need to do it again as...
I'm responsible for the Outside review. I'm an automotive journalist in the 4WD industry by trade and just bought my first Raptor.

I literally picked mine up yesterday. I was previously running around town in a newer black F250 with all the bells and whistles. But I see the white one with the cab all around town, I feel like she's constantly at the grocery store.
We'll have to get coffee soon.
BonTon? Really man? That place is pretty average in my opinion. I'd check out Brickhouse instead. Maggies is pretty good and the new Red Mountain Brewing is pretty good as well.
Just picked up my '18 today, and immediately took it up Yankee Boy, which is the trail you use to access Imogene. It had about 50 miles on it.
Not bad for Feb!
