I never had a previous generation so can't comment on those items. I will say that so many people are 'concerned' over the noise and personally I think its silly.

Sport mode always 'knocks' into gear. It has never been smooth. To me it seems that way by design. Hard, fast shifting.
In normal mode I can't feel a thing.

Your choice. I don't see a single 'has issues' situation at all. Might want to check your sources. I have beat the hell out of mine and run it hard and in 2500 miles, not a single issue.
I considered the Tundra before the raptor. The TRD supercharger is NOT made anymore as they are all not Flexfuel units. They only work on NON-Flex fuel vehicles and that is all toyota is making now. So if you want a supercharger, you need to go with an older Tundra.

Do you mean a mess with ordering and receiving this truck or mechanics. I have 2500 miles on mine and not a single issue.
