Don’t need it unless going offroad in stop/go wot off again on again conditions in high heat & periods of immobility

I live in MA- so the answer is no, I don’t need an updated IC. I do have a gearhead tune though & wouldn’t wanna own the truck w/o a tune @ this point.

I have not noticed any difference with the drop in filter, I just spent some time watching the dyno runs and for me it was not worth it. Every manufacture claims a gain of some but would I actually notice it? The only mod has been the tune and that you can feel for sure and I don't even get to use all of what that has to offer.

I did have a CAI on my Jeep but I also had a supercharger on it and there was a big airflow gain proven on a dyno right in front of me

This is something I am considering doing to my Raptor just based upon the overall positive feedback and knowing it can only help and not hurt. When I initially spoke with GearHeads regarding my current tune, they had mentioned that the tune would need to be adjusted if I were to change to an aftermarket IC, it makes sense and it will allow you to get most out of your tune, keep us posted on your progress

Got my tune in last Monday, 93prx. Drove around a bit that afternoon, and my temps were jumping into the 150s-160s whenever I was driving like I stole it. And would hang out 120s-140s just normal driving.
That was with ambient temps in the low 80s, and intake temps in the mid-upper 80s.
Installed CVF ic Tuesday, and temps were again low 80s outside. Never saw my charge temps get outside of the mid 120s... Maybe 124 or 126 was the highest I saw under the same driving conditions as the day before.
I've driven it all week and went on a road trip over the weekend. Granted, temps have been in the mid to low 70s, I have not seen my charge temps over the 120s, and I often drive it like I stole it.
I would say the advertised 40° reduction is legit. And it is definitely an improvement over the oem ic. I can maybe tell a little difference in the butt dyno when I'm already going 50-60 and get on it, but nothing super noticable.
I'm my opinion, it was a worthwhile Upgrade and the truck probably should come from the factory with a similar upgraded IC.

Now I'm afraid im going to be looking for other performance upgrades, even though it sounds like there's not much more I can squeeze out of it without upgrading the turbos. That being said, I'm super happy with the MPT 93PRX tune. Wish I would have gotten one on my 2017 lariat. It really does completely change how the truck drives. I'll be trying the 91perf tow tune in the next week or 2 and hopefully it will be just as good.

I like what you are saying and the numbers that you are putting down! Other Forum members have stated that the IC is the same that is used with the 2.7 and the standard 3.5 and feel that it was reaching it limits with these engines let alone the HO 3.5 tt. You have definitely swayed me in the direction of changing the IC just for the fact that it can not hurt and only help!

Thanks for sharing your info and showing the numbers to it up. I guess it is a cost issue for Ford to put a larger IC in the Raptor, my guess is that would be the reason. I wonder if there is a larger IC that Ford does make that would fit in place of the stock one? From what I have found aftermarket has been the only way to go bigger so far.... Now I just need to order one and then have my tune modified and my truck should be a little bit happier
