Yeah, vehicles are taxed based on CO2 emissions and weight here in Norway, which hits big 4x4's especially hard. If it wasn't for the possibility to have them registered as commercial vehicles I don't think anyone would buy them at all. Even a Toyota Hilux is over 100k here. Tough place to like...
An absolutely obscene amount I have my truck registered as a "commercial vehicle", which means I have to take the second row of seats out and class it as essentially a van. For the 2022 Raptor that puts the cost at 175k USD. If I wanted it with all 5 seats we are talking around 250k USD. But...
To anyone who has swapped their Gen 2 for a Gen 3 - does the Gen 3 handle load in the pickup bed better than the Gen 2?
I currently have a Gen 2, with a roof top tent mounted over the bed. I'm looking into mounting more gear, maybe changing to a truck camper (Alu-Cab style) for increased winter...
Hi all!
I have got some Truxedo Elevate rails mounted on my truck bed along with a Truxedo soft cover. Looking for a solution for a rack to mount on top of this but that is proving rather challenging. Any input would be appreciated.
My final option is to make something myself from 80/20...
Ideally I'd want one on the front and back, but failing that I can at least get a rear mounted winch to pull me back to solid ground and then I can choose a different route.
Sadly the laws for vehicle modification in Europe are pretty strict, so something like a Warn front winch bumper wouldn't...
Good point, I suppose they have considered a fair amount of dynamic load from a heavy trailer going in unpredictable directions, should be good for a winch pull at 6000 lbs then. Cheers all :D
Are there any bed rack solutions that work with a normal Truxedo soft cover? Most of the combined rack/bed cover solutions I have seen have the harder roll-covers that roll down into the bed - having had a Mountain Top Roll Cover on my previous VW Amarok I found it didn't work very well in...
Ouf. That is the road I would have gone down as I rarely have the patience to wait and see if things fix themselves. Thankfully it is all working nicely again now - some times it will cut out if I have been in and out of the truck a lot, which is understandable as I'm barely driving anywhere now...
I am considering getting a winch in a cradle that mounts to the rear hitch receiver. 6000 lbs winch. Any thoughts on whether or not this could cause any problems for the hitch receiver on the Raptor?
You would think so, but I shoot IPSC rifle and handgun competitions so I have a host of handguns and an AR-15 to feed  A bit more paperwork to sort here, but we can get them if we put in the effort
Yeah it is pretty bizarre. I believe the thinking behind it is that a two seat (or three seat, you are allowed one seat row) truck or van will not make a good family car. So they want to prevent people buying big heavy and thirsty pickups just for the tax benefits (which are considerable as you...
Just to update, my keyless entry systems are all working again too, just a few long-ish drives needed to get it running again :) Hopefully others will find this thread helpful
Aha, that's where I went wrong, I just looked at the voltage the car displayed once I turned the engine off. Was higher than expected. I'll use a voltmeter and check this morning as the truck has been cold all night :)
I have a battery tender that I usually use for my ATV and motorbike...
Haha, damn, you are right, it'll take me some time to get used to driving something this amazing and decidedly un-European ;) A friend asked me if there was a Webasto (diesel auxiliary heater) in the truck. I remote started it. We both laughed at the absurdity of using the petrol engine to...
