    Chocolate milkshake option on 6.2L?

I just finished running through a full tank of gas since I did the last update. Good mix of short trips, highway driving, idling, etc. So far still the coolant looks to be pure and green. As soon as I get a chance to clear all the backlog around the house after the huge Texas freeze I will be...

    Chocolate milkshake option on 6.2L?

Well, 3 more flushes seems to have done the trick. All clear! After the last flush, I drained all I could get out from the radiator and pulled the lower radiator hose. Then filled back up with Motocraft yellow going through a few fill cycles followed by a short trip to get gas and topped...

    Chocolate milkshake option on 6.2L?

Sorry for the long delay in getting an update on this. I came back from my out of town trip and got swamped/buried from multiple angles. So I went ahead and used a legit Prestone flush/degreaser, running with the thermostat back in place to get to full temperature for about 80 minutes. After...

    Chocolate milkshake option on 6.2L?

I did not. That would have been the smart thing to do before and after replacing the oil cooler. At least now if I did it and have no loss of pressure I would think that should give me a good indication the cooler was the issue. Maybe I should cut the old cooler in half with my carbide metal...

    Chocolate milkshake option on 6.2L?

LOL...yeah, I was hoping for something that would my mind at ease, but sounds like this is the most common method. - Joe

    Chocolate milkshake option on 6.2L?

Yeah, the back order thing initially scared me a bit, but once I got my local parts department on the phone on Monday morning they were able to find one in town and have it same day. I am curious if there is any easy/definitive way to determine that the cooler was the source of failure...

    Chocolate milkshake option on 6.2L?

I have an update after squeezing in a few hours of flushing this evening. Looks like adding the degreaser and doing the constant/running flush were the keys to making a real dent in the oil content of the water (which is so obvious to me in hindsight). Greatly appreciate getting me steered in...

    Chocolate milkshake option on 6.2L?

Thanks for all the feedback so far. I will certainly provide updates if I get to do some more testing tonight (and then I will be out of town for 4-5 days so bear with me for a brief lack of updates coming up). I haven't done any additional flushes after the first 3 limited "closed system" type...

    Chocolate milkshake option on 6.2L?

Simple Green sounds like a good idea. I had to use a degreaser to get the reservoir clean. That was a mess! Currently flushing without a thermostat but I haven’t done a flush with the drain open and constantly filling yet. Will give that a try. Mostly been filling the radiator, starting engine...

    Chocolate milkshake option on 6.2L?

It certainly seems like I have all the symptoms of a bad cooler. Maybe I will have to figure out how to test the coolers by somehow sealing the ends of the coolant in/out and pressuring it where I can measure any changes. I tried filling the first one with water laying on its back and let it sit...

    Chocolate milkshake option on 6.2L?

Oil was a little low when I changed it but that was after ~10k miles (got a little behind schedule this time, usually every 7.5k) but previous change certainly didn’t show much oil consumption. Definitely looks and smells like engine oil. Good flow in the radiator. Thanks! - Joe

    Chocolate milkshake option on 6.2L?

Looking for thoughts on what all I should do before I tear into the heads. 2014 118k, 2 weeks out of extended warranty, history of engine overheating at 60k about 3 years ago when radiator went out. Last week, just 3 days after I changed the oil and filter noticed an oil spot of driveway by...

Failed radiator on 2014...warranty or aftermarket?

Thank you for the link. I came to an understanding with the dealer that misdiagnosed the coolant leak the last time I gave it to them and they fixed all the issues that arose from the last visit. Had the truck back for a few days now and keeping my fingers crossed that everything is really...

Failed radiator on 2014...warranty or aftermarket?

Radiator on my 2014 finally gave it up. Blowing coolant from somewhere mid-high in all over the front of the motor. If I could find a dealership within 80 miles of NW Houston that would actually return my truck to me without breaking something else or doing shoddy work I would go the warranty...

Coolant leak - lower radiator hose

Been smelling coolant for a few weeks but no obvious signs of a leak and the coolant level has been mostly stable. Had the dealer check it out and after a week and a half (actually only 2 test drives, but that is another story) they traced it to the lower radiator hose...which of course is not...
