I am new to the forum, and this is my first post. I recently bought a 2012 and wanted to upgrade to the factory HID projector lights. I found a pair of oem raptor lights that were pull offs from a truck being retro fitted. They came with a morimoto harness.

I installed them, and they worked fine for a few min, but as I was adjusting the level on the passenger side, that side went out. I turned off the truck, turned them both back on, and then neither of them would turn off when the truck was turned off. I tried the light switch in all the positions.

The grounds were connected to the factory ground terminals on either side of the radiator. I verified all the pin connectors were in good contact and none were bent or broken. Since the lights fire and turn on, I am thinking the morimoto control might be bad. Any thoughts or experiences? The only way to get the lights to turn off is to disconnect the hot wire from the battery. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum. Best place for mods and hot women! Lol....

Yeah, they shouldn't stay on. How old is the harness? There is a newer one out that is water resistant. You could buy one from Dawson @Raptor Retrofit.

Is it only the hid lights staying on? Do the market lights and turn signals work as expected?

I would recheck all of your connections. Including the dead one not being used from the factor light connection.

Thanks for your quick reply. It looks like the new Morimoto harness, but I do not know for sure.

Yes, only the HID lights stay on. The marker lights and turn signals work as expected. The high beams work as well.

What do you do with the factory plug not being used on the drivers side? Just cover it from the elements? This install was done last night, and there was no moisture.

here, on frf
it sounds like the relay is stuck. do you have a power tester or a meter? you can check the wire going into the relay to see if it goes on and off with the switch.

I have the newer style Morimoto Moto Control and harness. I was thinking it was relay in the Moto control as well. It doesn't look like that can be pulled apart and cleaned or checked. I unscrewed the two end plates, but everything is sealed up water tight, and there was nothing I could see without damaging the seal to the internals.

Try this first, make sure it's off and TAP it.
Then try it again, sometimes the relay gets stuck.
If it continues then yes you need a new relay box.
I just swapped out a relay box for a customer because one of his wouldn't turn on and the harness was pretty new.
You can call TRS directly to see if they will cover it.

Got home this evening and plugged the projectors back in. Drivers side came on, but passenger would not fire. Turned lights off, and Drivers side stayed on. I tapped the relay, and it clicked off. Could not get the passenger side to fire.

Switched passenger side projector to drivers side, and it came on. Turned off lights, and it stayed lit. Again, tapped the relay, and it shut off.

So, don't know if we can rule out the harness yet, but looks to be something wrong with the relay. I have another morimoto relay and harness being overnighted, so hopefully it will get here tomorrow and I can finish it this weekend. If anyone has any other thoughts, please let me know.

Thanks again for all the help.
