If you had a rock hit the very edge or bottom of the windshield - a difference in cold and warm temps overnight could have caused it. Happened to me in a Lexus once. Knew a rock had hit the windshield but never found a mark. Then overnight a week or so later I went out to a 16" crack across the windshield.
