Bo I'm pretty sure that one parent company manufactures these headlights, and that ProTuning, eBay, Recon, etc just sell the same product under different branding. Don't feel guilty for getting a good deal on em...not that it excuses them from not working. Are you sure that installer of yours wasn't sneaking tequila on bathroom breaks?
The Recons are a completely different light then the ones on ebay. one way to tell the Recons apart is the marker light bulb has a black reflector, the other brand is chrome. Ill find some pics.

As far as your HID's Bo, stay away from the cheep stuff, they have a higher % of failure. if its not a digital ballast it can require up to 3x more current for startup and probably has no surge or "hot strike" protection. Ive never had a single prob with my retro solutions, this is the kit you want - 55W H1 DIGITAL HID kit LIFETIME WARRANTY - I believe those headlights require a H1 bulb ?
