I'm gonna start a 'build thread' for my dream truck so it's easier for me to keep track of everything I do to it, as well as issues I've already discovered and those that will inevitably show up.

Listing photos and first sight photo. Truck was for sale in Ohio and listed at 22,800. Talked them down over the phone to 21,500 and dropped a $300 deposit thursday 12/14/23 night to hold the truck for me to come look at Saturday 9am 12/16/23

Per previous owner to used car lot:
Shocks replaced 40k miles ago.
100k mile warranty covered: seat heater elements, heater blend door, "fuse 27 resolved"
He also said truck was very well cared for. Inclined to believe as car lot bought from dealer auction, so no reason to reach out to them just to lie about the truck.

Used car lot swore there was no rust, that was a lie. Truck has lived in OH and PA it's whole life from what I can find of its history.

Car lot was supposed to hand title to me when I got there and bought the truck. His wife the notary still had it in her stack at the office so they were going to mail it to me. Now 3 weeks later it's finally getting delivered today because they shipped it regular mail with no tracking or anything.

Left NC at 23:30 Friday night, got to the car lot right before 0900 Saturday morning.

Car lot told me 'no rust no rust no rust'. I knew BS being it was from Ohio/Pennsylvania. First thing I found was poorly bondo'd (yet fairly well painted) rear cab corners. Despite there being obvious rust issues, he wouldn't negotiate anymore. Said he had 5 people come in Friday after we paid deposit trying to buy it.

Test drive got interesting quick. Had to put some gas in it ($10) because it was 10 miles to empty and wanted to see how it behaved at highway speed. Locked the truck, went in and paid for the gas. Came out and couldn't get the truck to unlock with either fob, and neither key was wanting to unlock the door manually either. Didn't know door code yet. fought with it for about 3 or 4 minutes before it finally unlocked. Truck behaved great the entire time.
Had a little trouble getting into 4L, but was sitting on a hill while attempting to shift, so not sure whether to be worried or not with that.

Tried to talk them down for the rust and key issues. No dice. Paid them 21,500 out the door. No title in hand, would wind up taking over 3 weeks to get the title in the mail. Come to find out, title was printed 4 days after I paid them, and then signed 9 days after that. They never had the title to hand me like they claimed.


My buddy and I rolled out and went to get some breakfast before driving 9.5 hours back home

Driver seat worked during test drive. Should have set memory on it at that point. An hour or so on the way home the seat controls stopped working but the memory buttons continued working. Replaced switch panel and trim a few days later to no avail. Still haven't figured out the issue. Also realized when I got home that driver's rear door was not actuating the lock at all. Didn't notice if it did or not during the test drive.
Plastic water barrier was cracking while trying to pull it off to look or anything obvious with the actuator. Gonna do sound deadner in the future I guess now.
