first, where do you guys assume I was doing 100 mph for extended periods of time, this was on I-80 going through nevada, I only saw another vehicle every 10-20 minutes at most, that's at most 18 cars over the span of 3 hours, and I could see for miles on either side of the freeway and miles ahead, second, I wasn't refering to all drivers age 30-50, in my post I said "who have become complacent and no longer pay attention to the road", and that's not the old age group, that's my dad talking through me, you're not old until you're 70, my dad says he's old every day and that's been since his early 50s, it's been working on me for a while and starting to creep into my speech as well, I'm sorry, and lastly, the braking distance I gave was from real life, and it did happen, so I don't know what to say if all you can accept is numbers from a magazine

I'm not trying to start any fights, but I don't take kindly to people calling me an idiot when they never knew me just because I'm young, this was a thread for those of us who want to find higher speed rating tires, I know there are people on this forum who have gone faster than I plan on going in this truck, and they don't do this kind of research before hand to find tires and driveshafts that can handle those speeds, I'm sorry I started a thread on safety and all you guys can see is me trying to be unsafe

OK fair enough---let us just say that many of us have experienced catastrophic failures in our years driving or riding. That being said just want to make sure that SOME of the younger folks understand that there is a lot more to this than meets the eye.. That is not to say that SOME of the "experienced" folks need to take heed as well..

Wait until you have a driveshaft sheer apart at that speed that will wake you up!

How about a deer, or a 1000lb elk jumping out in front of you.

Your tank must have been completely full and completely empty after 2 hours.

Open grazing land like along the highways in Nevada have a bad habit of creating eye opening experiences... I don't care how fast you think you are how quick you think your reaction's might be, they just never seem to be enough.. But back on topic, you don't need tires that will do over 112 MPH , don't go that fast you will live to be 22...

Just for the record, I did not call you an idiot because you are young. I called you an idiot for your irresponsible behavior on public roads and your defense of said behavior. Maybe i shoukd have called your behavior idiotic instead of you personally....my bad. But, I have witnessed sufficient carnage caused by expert (read overconfident) drivers like yourself to know what I am talking about. If you want to go fast, take it to the track. Otherwise, please be mindful of others. Enjoy your raptor in good health!

I don't think calling names here is useful. He is very interested in interacting and learning. No need to attack. Until science allows our children to be born with the wisdom and knowledge of the ages, keeping our young engaged is our best option. Calling names doesn't help.

I do take it to the track most of the time, but how I drive is what you guys call enthusiastically, not racing everyone at all times of the day, you can't experience the roads I drive on a track, tracks are repetitive, that's why I love the nurburgring, it's long enough to not be repetitive, wish we had a track like that in the states so I could enjoy myself on a track the way you can on an open street, besides, animals can get on tracks as well, you're not safe from that anywhere, and generally tracks are more crowded and dangerous than a back road in the middle of nowhere, even how I drive, I never leave my lane, I keep it toned down enough to do that just in case there is someone there, I drive fast, not recklessly

you assume the way I drive, you don't know, I know there are alot of kids that drive the way you think I do, that's why you think I do it too, but I am not one of them, I never take outstanding risks, I know where I'm driving at all times, if I don't know a road, I drive at or under the speed limit to learn it, and take it up slowly until I can feel the limits being reached, then I back off a little, I don't support irresposible driving behavior, I just like to find where my ability stands so I can try to improve on it

Answer to your first question is in your quote below.

Twice I've run the truck at the speed limiter for over 2 hours straight, I wouldn't put it past myself to go even faster for the same amount of time

If you have been to the nurburgring they have fences all around that track for wildlife??? Also any track that has a chance of large game to get on it has a wildlife fence, at least all the ones I've seen.

That being said, I too love to go fast (and am very guilty of this) faster than I should in these trucks and some more high speed rated tires would be nice.

wildlife fences won't stop everything, and there were places at the nurburgring where I could've jumped over onto the fence and then down to the track if I had wanted to, I'm sure a deer would have had no problem, the same could happen here in the states, those fences aren't designed to keep wildlife out as much as keep vehicles and vehicle parts in
