After doing some priority purchases and taking care of my family, I may be in the market for new suspension all the way around. I am pretty much heart set on King 3.0's in the front and King 3.5 or 4.0 in the rear with a bypass rack... however, I want to have the best suspension set up at the best price and I have no need to go full "pre runner" but also want better performance than stock. Other than cutting my bed, what are downsides of bypass rear shocks? Are there any? Will I be disappointed if I stick to 3.0s in the rear and no bypass rack?

*I am aware there are many threads I can research to answer all my questions but would like some input.

I'm sure they'll be out with OEM replacement coils and bypasses pretty shortly. Those will negate having to cut the bed but will offer better performance. For the G1 Fox/King/Icon/ADS all offer options that fit the stock mounts. That sounds like exactly what you're looking for. I'd also assume that you could get your stock 3.0s revalved for a little better performance too, but that's speculation.

Cutting the bed and going with a longer shock in the rear could definitely net you more travel, but it doesn't sound like that's what you are looking for. It'll be real interesting to see what everyone comes out with for suspension mods on this thing in the coming months.

Edit: Nice sig. Rock a patch with that saying on my hat every day.

Without cutting the bed and getting maximum performance out of the rear the Cantilever system is the best bet. Not cheap, but will outperform other setups.

I looked into this as well, I may need to call Rogue up and ask about it. I currently have SVC Adjustable Bumpstop System and not sure if the cantilever kit will work with it or not, I don't want to have to switch to Rogues Bumpstop system in order to run the cantilever.

It actually might fit, we did not design our Bump Stop around the cantilever installation. I will look up some pictures and compare for you.

Thanks. When I get home I will be giving you guys a call at Rogue Racjng to get more information on the cantilever kit.

Better to just start with the RPG Bolt Kit. You'll get there eventually, and by starting there you save the two starting steps (single 3.0's up front, duals up front, then Nirvana...)
