DIY stereo upgrade for under $500.00

Ok great thank you, kicker it is. I don't think an 8" shallow in a plastic enclosure stuck behind a seat is really in a position to give the most "clean" bass anyway. Rather get the most out of it that I can.

Amp recommendation?

The kenwood Amp I posted drives that just fine at 4ohms. That amp needs the line level converter listed, which was actually pretty clean and comes with base remote adjustment. As a matter of fact im planning on using the same amp to power a second removable 8 or 10 inch Kicker, The amp will go down to 2 ohms 500w rms so could give 250 to each. I was looking at a small 6 inch tall box that fits well under the rear passenger seat. Im just not that confident that mixing a 10 inch sub in parallel is very kosher as one may need more power that the other. will see. It actually sounds pretty good with just the kicker listed, and that kicker fits right into the b and o box. I never tried that kicker in the ported mode, so you might check that out? if you have the b and o . However if you are just doiing this then the Other smaller kenwoods amp listed by Guy is easier to mount behind the seats, doesnt need a line level converter, but still way more power than the stock.

I think if i started over I would Consider the GTO 6x9 front and 6.5 inch rears, or the Polk audio, or Pioneer as they all have good sensitivity and better then stock. I dont think the current tweeters are lacking but am will to hear from other people that have upgraded b and o. I would add the Kicker 8 DVC shallow with an amp and adjust accordingly. I changed back my center to stock and left the current tweeters as i thought they were already plenty loud and overppowering the system.

I pulled the trigger on the 6x9 GTO939s and Stadium 750T tweeters for the front, and the 629s for the rear. Had an amazon gift card for $70, so the 629s were basically free...$180 all in, with tweeters discounted $20 at JBL.com. Got the GTOs from amazon.

I'm going to have these installed and leave the center channel and sub alone for now. Also going to have a modest tint done on the front windows, and my Ford Raptor Lights installed at the same time...will update when done, probably in 2weeks or so. Thanks to all for the updates/discussion.

You'll be pleased I think. Particularly with the fronts which made the most difference to me.

Still kicking around subwoofer ideas. Does anyone know the dimensions of the stock boxes back there, sony or B&O which I believe are different?

Wondering if I could spend alittle extra, get a solid MDF box that I can fit a decent 10" sub in there then power it appropriately for alittle extra oomph that it seems most people are missing with the stock enclosure 8" shallow replacement.

I added a 10 inch dual voice coil sub that i have in parallel with my Modified behind the seat DVC sub 8". Both are kicker . The box is pretty well made and fits under the passenger seat without difficulties. could be removed if needed easily for storage. The internal volume of the sub box is between .4 and .5 cu ft so The 10" kicker can go into a space that small. This adds much more thump on the low end. It is particularily good at low tones ( like dub step type music, It is good at Really low base thumps Gangsta base drum) but will get aa flutter occasionally when driving to hard for that type of music. This box is bedliner sprayed but there is another on amazon that is carpeted. The 10"kicker recommended power of 400w rms. overall pretty happy with this

I have the base 800 package on mine with the factory kicker subwoofer. Is the speaker layout the same in these or is it completely different? Would like to improve sound in mine as well.

The doors are all full range.
The center dash is full range

I'm not sure about the a pillars. I am running filters because they are tweeters.

The subwoofer is the only channel I can verify that has a crossover cut off from the Sony amp. It's around 100.

The sound COMES TO LIFE with the speaker change.

Are you using the high pass filters that come with the tweeters (7K Hz) or something else from Crutchfiled (e.g. 5K Hz)? Frequency response bottoms out at 2.5K Hz is why I ask.
