OOOF, we have surpassed my knowledge data base for this topic. I'm a techie, but for sure I'm not a techie historian, but I do love making fun of Apple users, not because the technology is less advanced, or that it's bad, because let's face it, the people developing and marketing that stuff are a heck of a lot smarter than me. It's very similar to making fun of Marines, they get pissy when you do, but dammit, in a firefight, it's always good to have a Jarhead or a group of them close by. Not that I think Apple people will come to your rescue in a firefight, they'll be too busy sitting in the fast lane at 60 in their Prius. See, it's fun.

Love the reply.
PS, coming from a Jarhead:biggrin:

I got a cheap Qi fast charging pad from Amazon for about $15. It fits OK in the console tray but it allows the phone to slide off of it during driving.

I have a 3d printer and whipped out a design to hold the charger and phone in place. I'm printing the 3rd draft(I had to make some adjustments) as I type this. Here's some pics of a draft print.

I'll follow up with more pics of it in the console later. I fits this Qi charger https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FMDQK80/?tag=fordraptorforum-20 and an iPhone 8+. I'm sure it'll fit most Android phones in similar size. If not, the STL can be adjusted.

Designed in AutoCAD Fusion360 and printed with a Wanhao i3Plus 3D printer.

UPDATE: Here's the finished product.

I don't have a printer. Any reccomendations or would you make another and sell it?

Also- does carplay work via this connection?

You can always take the file to a local maker space. I can't sell it since it has the Raptor logo on it and not I'm about to start printing these out to hand out.

iPhones need a USB connection for CarPlay on Sync3. Not sure if Ford will update to allow CarPlay via Bluetooth.

Good luck.

CarPlay only works via cable and on few models, wifi, but never bluetooth.

I have an airdock, had it forever and just stuck it in the CD player mount in all my cars.

Until I got the raptor...

So, I bought a mophie charge pro, I think, the desktop model, the mount in the back wedges nicely into the little pen holder between the shifter and cup holders, I actually did 2 chargers. I used 90 degree micro usb poked holes in the plastic liner and drilled 1" holes under the liner in the console, they will never be seen and can replace the liner easy enough, pulled the console and ran one to the usb up front and another to the center console where i have. 2.1a 12v charger. So, I can charge 2 phones wirelessly.

I may add some nano tape but not really necc to keep my S8 on there.
