Does anyone know if the EBOV is still intact on our Raptors like the first gen ecoboost? Essentially a factory installed electric blowoff valve that exhausts into your intake tract.

For those who don't know, a BOV essentially dumps excess boost when you let off the throttle (closing the throttle body) to prevent a pressure spike in your intake. It keeps the turbo wheel from experiencing a shock and also keeps your wheel speed maintained if you get right back on the throttle. It's the "pssssh" sound that a modified turbo car will make when they shift gears.

One neat thing on the gen 1 was that you could plug the hole in your intake and just "vent to atmosphere", or throw a little filter on to protect the EBOV for dirty conditions. They called it the VTA mod. It might not be for everyone but for guys who like turbo noises, it's essentially a free mod.

One step further is you can dump the factory EBOV and get an even louder BOV noise by disabling the factory one and throwing on a HKS or TiAL or whatever in its place on a custom intake tube. Those are expensive though and TBH don't sound a whole lot different.

Skip to 4:00 to hear it.

When I get back to my garage I might do a little investigating and see if it's still there.

Alright, here's a shaky nighttime video I made of the sound after the mod.

Super easy to do. You unhook the EBOV line, throw a plug in it and then you're done. Longest part of the install was removing and reinstalling the skid plate.

Just did mine didn't have to pull skid plate if your arm is long enough you can reach the bottom and the top is right there. I'm going to get a better plug but super simple to do and it does sound better!
