Trimming front fender flares?

I have 37/12.50/17 Nitto ATII tires with my truck on mid perch. I only rub when off roading hard and it happens when under compression. I have already done all the normal pinch weld trimming. I'm wondering if anyone has trimmed maybe an inch or two off of the actual flare and fender all the way around to cure this problem. I understand fiberglass fenders are the correct way to do it but I'm not in a position right now to make that happen. Any pics of similar trimming is appreciated!
