Puddle Lights: LED pointed down or up?

So I just took off my covers on the puddle lights and was wondering which way the LED bulb points to. It looks like more light shows when you point them down to the ground versus pointing them up to the reflector. Any help will be appreciated.

Not trying to be controversial, but I would think 1 LED would be a bit focused. If you get more light output from using a reflector to disperse the light, I'd go that route personally

manny have done this mod and everyone points them down. the reflector is a joke in these and its got a fresnal lense to disperse light. i doubt what ever led he is using is only 1 led...
