Installed my smoked LED tail lights today

I think they look good. Came super well packaged. It looks like they took extra care to seal up the lights as some of the sealant on the back is still a little tacky. Installed easily enough. I also got the LED reverse lights. They are very bright and white so hopefully it helps some with the reverse camera. Overall, I think they look pretty good. I had to get replacements as I broke one of mine. I kept the blue ring off of the OEM lights to help seal the reverse lights as Greg said he had some dust infiltrate them. It was a booger to get the lights to seat correctly with the OEM o-ring, but it works.

The coupon code in Recon's forum is pretty amazing also.

EDIT: The metal heat sinks on the back of the lights get VERY hot (almost unbearable to the touch). I've emailed RECON to see if this is normal.

Do your heatsinks get super hot? I put a brick on the brake pedal with the truck off (brake lights on) and those suckers almost started smoking!!!

Mine don't the only thing that happens is sometime they go super fast then to normal. I just gotta throw resistors in but I haven't noticed them hot. Smoking? Jesus lol

I got those led reverse bulbs, they still suck. Not any better then stock just a different color.

Tails look good though, gonna match the heads !

Looks great, I have the red smoked ones they are a little darker looking. One side leaked and it was all foged up,Recon sent me a new one, no problems for three months now.

I got the same tails and installed them yesterday. Love em. Stuck with the standard bulbs though because they seem to do the trick in conjunction with the rear view camera. Super easy install although I do have to admit that one of the screw holes did not line up all that well. I just brute forced it in there and all is well. And I concur that the blue rings made it difficult to seat the bulb but got 'er done. I also put a strip of electrical tape around the socket and pinched it down for a little more of a seal.

These look awesome!!!
What is smoked about them? Is the outter lenses tinted, or is the inner housing blacked out like Ducati does. I'm trying to see if these would be legal in states that have laws that say you cannot tint your tail lights.
