I just snagged up a one-piece extender from an older truck to not deal with the pins for the hinges and connection. To each his own

Mine didn't go into the holes/grommets after the linex went on. So I popped the grommets out filed down the linex to fully seat the grommet. Now it goes it with a minimal of effort.

I kick the pins in if I need to lock the extender in position. It doesn't take a hard kick, just a few taps with the boot.

I think I will need to probably shave the liner down from inside the Locking pin holes in the bed, then shave or remove the feet so it angles properly.
