I realized we have talked about the Fomoto valve on here in a few threads, but no-one has ever shown what the oil change looks like once you have it installed.

I won't bore you with the normal basic oil change stuff. But on the passenger side, remove the 3 10mm bolts and remove the panel to expose the drain plug.

Here you see the Fomoto valve installed. I still have the safety clip in, and the nipple cover on.

Went to Home Depot and bought basic 3/8 inside diameter 1/2 inch outside clear plastic tube.

Remove the nipple cover and safe lock, push the tube on and open the valve.

The oil will begin to flow. Pro tip. Make sure the oil is warm, not hot. It will flow better. Cold oil will still flow, but may take longer. Here I routed in right into my drain pan because I didn't have an empty container. Next time I will. But zero mess on the garage floor.

While the oil is flowing, go to the front of the truck and remove the 5 torx screws to access the oil filter.

hard to see, but remember the oil comes out the small square, not the big opening you just got access to.

When you get the new filter installed, the oil should be done flowing. Remove the tube, close the valve and put the safety clip in and nipple cover on. I always add 5.5 quarts of oil before I start.

Start the car, let it run for 30 second, wait another 30, and check the oil and add more if needed. This time I needed the full 6 quarts that outs me to 3/4 mark on the dipstick.

Double check for leaks at the filter and valve, put the covers back on, and you are done.

All in all, this took my 25 minutes, and there was zero mess on my garage floor.

If it's not too much trouble, could you post the part number for that valve?
I love when chores are reduced to clean and simple!
Thanks...

One correction right off...as this is not a Fomoto Valve as it says in the title. It is made by Fumoto.

There are a couple that will work...again just for clarity, this is for GEN2 trucks with the metal oil pan. This is not for GEN2 trucks that have the plastic oil pan and the yellow plastic drain plug.

So the two most commonly used are the F107N and the F107SX. The N version is what is in this thread and has a 15mm nipple and comes with the black safety clip. The SX model is preferred by many as it allows you to rotate the spout to the exact location you'd like. It has a 5mm nipple. The safety clip for it is blue.

If you happen to have the plastic pan, Ronin Factory has the solution.

Anyone know if that same tubing will work with the F107SX valve? I know that the SX has a much shorter nipple. Is it long enough to just push the 3/8" tubing on there and not need to worry about a clamp? Or is there room for a clamp also?

Pro tip. Make sure the oil is warm, not hot. It will flow better. Cold oil will still flow, but may take longer.
Out of curiosity, why does hot oil not flow as well as warm oil? And when you say "warm", how long would you recommend letting the truck warm up before you change the oil? Thanks! Great post!

Anything is better then cold. You just dont want it super hot because the oil filter is almost impossible to take off without getting some on your hand or wrist. Has nothing to do with the flow. has to do with burns.
