I put a magnaflow muffler on my 6.2 last night. I used a 24" muffler which I think is VERY close to what the kit uses. The muffler Part# 12249. Its a 3" single in single out, 5 by 8 inch oval. To Y it out for the tail pipes, I used a magnaflow stamped Y pipe. 3" into 2, 2.5" out part#10778. It fits very nice. With some 3 inch pipe to complete the missing sections theres very little fabrication to do (mostly just weld in and go). I choose to do it this way (instead of a dual out muffler for the tail pipes) because if i didn't like the way It sounded, I could weld in a different 3" muffler much easier (I wouldn't have to cut and re-use the tailpipes for a 3rd time).

As for the sound, its very mellow. No rasp, just a mellow growl. Not much louder than stock. NO drone that I can hear. Rumbles a little at start up and when you get in it, but other than that, very close to stock sounding. No performance gains that I could feel.

I'm very happy with it and would tell anyone to look into this route if looking at the magnaflow kit, because it is much cheaper. I will see if I can get some pictures tonight.

24" muffler, thats a big sum bitch..........

HAHA!! It looks pretty dinky compared to the factory one! Its actually 18" of muffler and six inches of connecting pipe (3" on each end). It was a tough choice between the 14" or 18" 5 by 8 oval magnaflow. I'm happy I went with the 18/24" because it will probably be plenty loud for me when I delete the cats and do headers:superhack:

right on Pirate. We're looking forward to hearing how that big bastard sounds on video.

I will see what I can do. My camera takes decent enough video but it has no editing software, so the videos end up being a long cluster ****. But, I'm looking at buying a video camera tonight, so hopefully I will have something shortly. If it stops raining!!
