the most cringe worthy thing is assuming others are jelous of your truck lol, especially when they arent one bit
Honestly, I don't care what they think :). I know what I think and the reaction from 99% of the people who see it love it.

It's the small group of bashers on this forum that make me laugh. I get good ideas and advice from this forum, most of the people here are nice...some are haters, it doesn't bother me.

I've been here longer than most of the haters, they will always be haters, and I'll continue to smile and wave. [emoji1]

Holy shit, I can't even tell if you're literate or not. 'Cause my response was pretty damn coherent. Its no wonder Jenny owners are a bunch of sheep.

Ford: HEY BROS AND BRAS, I GOTS A NEW RAPTOR AND ITS MADE OF ALUMINUM CUZ ITS JUST AWESUM! WE TOOK OUT THE BIG OLE' V8 AND PUT IN THE ECOBOOST WITH 10 AWESUM GEARS CUZ ITS JUST SO COOL! NOW YA'LL WILL GET 20 MPGEES!! TAKE THAT, COMMUNISM! WE ALSO PUT IT A BUNCH OF AUTOPILOT TECH SO THAT YA'LL CAN CONTINUE TALKING ABOUT YOUR NEXT PERIOD WITHOUT PAYING ATTENTION TO THE ROAD!

Sheep 1: Hmmm, I'm not so sure about this.

Sheep 2: Bro, this sounds awesum! I never had a Raptor and now I think I may get one.

Sheep 3: Yea bro, I had one, but this just sounds so awesome!

Lego-man (rented out by Ford): Yea guys, everything's ****** awesome! Go buy the new Raptor!

Sheep 2: I'm the first in line bra!! Yo, sheep 3, go get me a frappe while I wait.

Sheep 3: Awesum bro! On my way, 3 frappes coming up!

Sheep 1: Ahh **** it, if everyone's getting these, I may as well. LETS BE AWESUM!!

Lego-man: YAY! EVERYONE'S AWESUM!

Gen 1 Raptor owners (standing around the corner): Tsk tsk, there go 3 more into the blender.

Is this how it all went down at the Ford dealerships last summer? But in all honestly, the only real improvements are the new interior, the 10-speed (somewhat, because I would have been happy with 8; 10 is just over-kill for an off-road truck), and the new shocks. This engine is NOT an improvement - it's borrowed tech from other models slapped on with 2 turbos. There's a reason other major Raptor competitors have stuck with NA engines. I'm talking the new Patrol, the OLD Patrol (which you Americans don't even get), the new Land Cruisers, the OLD LCs (which you American's don't get anymore either; we still get the J70 out here in an NA V6 config). ALL desert worthy and reliable mass produced vehicles are NA engines. Not turbo-ed. Not SCed.

Ford chose the current configuration for the Raptor to make it more road-worthy, not better at what it was, so stop trying to convince yourselves that just because you went out and bought a Jenny, you have the best of the best. Ford tricked you. Get over it.

P.S. Iraq really never had any WMDs. And Assad is really not a bad guy. I know many Syrians out here. Don't drink the Kool-Aid. But BE AWESUM!

Also, to be really honest, I don't even off-road THAT much. I do have most of my '14s 47k KMs (~30k miles) as a DD and I seldom use it as a work truck. I would actually even think of 'downgrading' to the '17 Raptor 'cause I wouldn't mind some more MPGees and a nicer interior. Indifferent about the tech and the slight increase in acceleration though. Being objective is tough, isn't it?

So, in your entire post history, you’ve beaten the same dead horse, over and over and over. I’d say that your ‘objectivity’ in this would better be described as ‘rationalization’.

Every gen2 owner that has paid MSRP or more rationalized their purchase, and you - let’s be clear here, are a devoted and vocal hater of the new truck, your post history leaves no ambiguity in that regard. There are plenty of previous Gen Raptor owners rationalizing not buying the new truck and there’s really nothing wrong with either. It may make perfect sense for someone to hold on to the older generation truck because it fulfills the owner’s requirements just fine. There really isn’t a wrong reason for someone to decide on whether or not they want to buy or not buy the new truck. That is not what is going on this discussion, this discussion morphed into nothing more than partisans from both tribes denigrating the other in a public forum on the internet than for no other reason than to make themselves feel superior and their respective targets feel inferior and now to the point of pre-kindergarten style name calling.

For someone who has said they could lay down cash for a new Rap, and keep their old Rap, you’re doing an awful lot of rationalizing why you won’t buy the new truck. Really, that’s your decision to make, but you are devoting an awful lot of time to trying to convince others of the righteousness of your choice and wrongfulness of the other choice. Almost as a need or compulsion.

I was sure disappointed to find I have transgressed against such a true and devoted believer. For about .25 seconds anyway. Surely my FRF fan base and internet following will take a devastating hit as a result. [I have an internet fan base of exactly zero, so who f*cking cares].

we now return you to your regularly scheduled internet forum noise.

BTW, OP is dead wrong in suggesting Gen2 sounds like a lawn mower. Harley Davidson sounds just like my Husky riding mower and nothing like the Gen2.
The Gen2 motor most closely sounds like a weed whacker.

You are absolutely correct. I am/was an addicted lurker since before I got my truck, but never quite contributed as I don't have much to contribute for the American/Canadian truck owners out there. I live in a sandpit where aftermarket products for the Raptor are scarce and hell, I don't want to get aftermarket engine and suspension upgrades and void my warranty.

And you are also correct that I'm openly voicing my opinion that the new Raptor lacks a real upgrade in the engine department. It's a downgrade - pure and simple. The same way I believe I4s in the new Boxsters and Caymans are a downgrade, and I won't ever be buying one again. I don't go on their forum and bash that vehicle as I don't own one anymore and haven't since before the I4 came out. Regardless, I'm more fond of this truck as it's just a feel-good vehicle. No other vehicle puts a bigger smile on my face daily. So I'm really disappointed that Ford went the V6 route.

About just buying the Jenny so I have them both? Well, I've also mentioned earlier that having both (in stock form) is pretty pointless. And I have no plans on engine and suspension upgrades, voiding 3 years out of my 5-year warranty, so I'll be getting the Jenny only after I sell my current Raptor. And that's only if a V8 Jenny is offered. Like many other FRF members, I work hard for my money and I'm not going to throw some at an inferior Raptor.

Since you have so much time, you can even read all my posts where I've repeatedly said good things about the Jenny. However, I'm not a Ford fanboy like Bullishone that I'm going to eat up everything that they market and call it all an upgrade. And here's hoping a Ford employee or two actually visit this site and take notes. They'll realize LOTS of Gen1 (and some Gen2) Raptor owners want a V8. And maybe give us the option. Then all this bitching will have been successful and I'll finally go get a new Jenny (even though I'm against the aluminum body and 10-speed).

Also since you've gone through my post history, you may notice that only do I contribute with my 'forum noise' when Jenny owners start tooting their own horn.

Yes I'm a sheep for upgrading my old Raptor for one with 6 year newer technology, it's faster, it handles better, it drives better, it has a much better suspension, way better interior, it's stronger, it's lighter, it tows more, it's got more torque, more HP, it looks waaay better, it has far more headroom for performance ...and it actually sounds amazing after I upgraded the exhaust.

Yep. Baaaahhhhh. Bahhhhh.

And as usual, Bullishone has nothing intellectual to contribute. At least attempt to counter my points.

1. Aluminum body is a farce. It has no place in an off-road truck. Go on the Facebook FRF and you'll see many a Jenny / new F-150s with holes in their military grade aluminum body.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/joannm...fords-aluminum-f-150-pickup-bed/#48fcfbcf6867

No, I'm not going to drop cinder blocks in my Raptor, but I also don't want tree branches to poke holes in my doors and cut my legs up. The new frame may be stronger (hence the better NHTSA ratings) but the aluminum body is a POS in a truck of this caliber.

2. A 10-speed. Another big mistake? You'd think 2 overdrive gears are enough and more durable? Just because Ford developed a 10-speed for their mass production use doesn't mean that it's the best suited transmission for a Raptor.

3. Nothing more needs to be said of the Eco-shit. People seem to forget that they're buying a massive truck - not a 3000lbs Porsche. A V6 is right in place for a little Porsche, or a minivan. Or an Accord. But not a massive off-road truck.

Come on lad, at least try to counter these.

Well sure I will counter these;

1) actually you're wrong. Aluminium is lighter, thereby allowing the truck to be more nimble and faster. It's also a longer lasting material. It's steel underbody is stronger and that's why it's safer. Aluminium is the future, others will follow and Ford will lead.

2) wrong again, ten speeds allows the truck to perform better and more smoothly off-road. Try Baja mode sometime if you get the chance.

3) I think Ford did their research. Ecoshit, as you call it, is the core of Ford going forward. This is why they used it in the new Ford GT and it's an amazing engine with lots of upgrade overhead potential. It's less cumbersome than a v8 and outperforms it in every possible measure.

Arguing about this is like arguing that the earth isn't flat. You're wrong about everything so far including me being a "fanboy,". If you knew more about my car collection you'd see I'm pretty well rounded and objective about this stuff. I do like my old Raptor, it was great...but nothing like the new one. Not even close.

could we just ban bullishone and hk guns from the forum? sound like two chickens going back and forth. if your so certain your truck is the best of the best why do you feel the need to argue over it?

No, see, YOU are wrong.

1. Aluminum is LIGHTER, but NOT stronger than steel. The Raptor is NOT a 10 second drag racer. Who gives a shit how it corners on mountain passes or how quick it is off the mark. That's exactly my point. You are looking for quick and nimble (as you put it) speedster in a big strong truck. But you won't get either - instead you'll get a horrible attempt at both, but not quite hitting either mark. Why don't you just go get a 911 if you want something that is lightweight, quick and nimble?

2. How exactly does 10 speeds help you off-road? That's literally the stupidest thing I've heard yet. When I drive in the sand (in one of the world's largest deserts), I usually don't go over 3rd gear. Maybe in 4th. Just maybe. Hell, even if you want to jump the damn truck, 4th gear will get you to a fast enough speed. A 10 speed, like I've said over and over again, is just to make the Raptor more road-worthy, so that all the highway cruising gets awesome MPGees. For that an 8-speed would have been just as well.

3. Sure, Eco-shit is the core of Ford going forward. For the Focus, the Ford Edge, the minivans, all the other little mass production vehicles, etc. Do you not understand the point I'm going to make here? This is a Raptor - not a mass produced ************* Focus. Why is Ford developing a V8 for it's SD trucks if Eco-shit is the future? There's a function for everything. V6s are for good efficiency and lightweight uses. Forced induction is for power and performance. So sure, mix the two for lightweight road hugging speedsters like the Ford GT. Hell, Porsche has been doing it for decades, so Ford definitely isn't first in this cutting edge technology called TTV6. This is a big ef'ing truck that is meant to spend a lot of its time OFF ROAD, where durability trumps being lightweight and nimble. Only you would argue that a turbo doesn't decrease the durability of an engine or a vehicle in general.

If going smaller is the future, why does Bugatti still make W16s? Maybe they aren't as smart or versatile as you are.

Honestly, dude, you're wrong in all 3 points. Ford is using you (and others like you) to make its big bucks, and selling you a truck with the engine and transmission of a mall crawling, highway cruising, mini-van. Enjoy it.

---------- Post added at 12:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:55 AM ----------

About driving in the desert out here: sand is very soft in the deserts out here and you'll bog down really quickly, so high RPMS and low gears is how you drive. A 10-speed is just plain stupid in an off-road truck. You may get to 6-8th gear on big dirt fields where the ground is hard and you can speed, but not in the desert. Either way, and 8-speed is sufficient. In my opinion, even a 6 speed is sufficient for off-roading. As for being lighter in the soft sand out here, yes, it does help a lot. But 300 lbs off a 6000 lbs truck? Really? You're not going to feel the difference in the sand.

I'm not going to argue my point any more 'cause it seems like I'm 'talking' to a wall here. But conclusion: Ford made a very road worthy Raptor as a Jenny, but that's about it.
