Oil change interval - how often and why?

Tire rotation and oil change every 7k for me. Royal Purple because I can get it for a good price on Amazon.

You need to change the oil? Stupid truck.

Curious on interval since many previous ecoboost users report fast oil change intervals to protect the engine - mainly cam phasers. So many Ford service departments have been denying cam phaser replacements because of the oil change interval of the owner. The service department says the owner went too long and created sludge blocking oil paths to the phasers.

The interval of an OC or any fluid change is meaningless without the conditions it was driven.

I drilled a weep hole in my oil pan... so I just top it off daily... usually takes about 3.5 quarts every morning. Garage floor is getting really slippery...

You only get sludge if you use dino oil - with synthetic oil there will be no sludge.
