Any way to improve the brakes without spending $6,000 on a big brake kit? There’s gotta be an option that isn’t ridiculously Priced. I’m not sure exactly how and what makes better brakes more money, but can’t there be a better pad and rotor combo of the stock size that do a better job?

Some say that if you put more street friendly tires on it, that will help both braking and handling. If you plan on going off road, that solution won't work.
The Raptor's intended purpose was to go off road and most have now turned it into a street truck, but Ford still builds it for it's original purpose. They're finally responding with the Limited.

Hi All - new 2018 Raptor owner here.

I've only done 1000 miles, and initially felt the brakes were pretty poor. A very soft pedal and sudden braking performance is a bit of a concern.

Then I had a loaner standard F150 while the bed liner and tint was being done. What a difference - firm braking feel, solid pedal - strong stopping power.

I've seen references on the forum to spongy brakes, but am really surprised that the standard truck feels so much more confident under brakes. Is this a known issue or something I should bring up with the dealer?

Felt the same way so I just put the Alcon brakes on my 2018!

The Gen 1 brakes (at the wheel) are the same as the Gen 2 brakes. The Gen 2 brakes should feel way better with it's lighter weight, but it doesn't.

I gotta think the difference is in the booster. The Gen1 has a nice huge old school brake booster fed from that monster continuous vacuum source that is the 6.2L Ford engine.

Just an FYI - there are no (in widestream or even average consumer use) drilled rotors made via mold - all are drilled after the fact.

If anyone tells you it is molded, ask for photos and videos of the rotors being manufactured. You’ll get crickets.

*Maybe* Porsche- there was a bounty from the guys at TCI on Corner Carvers for anyone who could prove holes were cast into rotors. There was some pictures of molds found that looked like holes cast in, but nothing was ever proven one way or the other on that. Everything else was clearly are drilled into a plain disc.

You guys should get a quote for the R1 concepts BBK. They have a kit that fits 17” wheels and probably close to $2500 less than Alcon if you factor in needing tie rods.

The six piston R1 caliper weighs just over seven pounds. Rotors will be at least 3lbs lighter than stock.

The 2018 do not need Tie Rods for the Alcon brakes, FYI.

Here’s a 6 piston rear 356mm rotor.

Front 8 piston 380mm

These were still less than the Alcons.
