I thought I would post this up after seeing Ray ask about tire carriers. I have been wondering about this myself. We have all seen the Tire Gate, but what else is out there?

Here are a couple of options I ran across:

Here is one that mounts flat in the bed from Kartek:
http://www.kartek.com/Product/Access...ireMounts.html
-They don't show this exact mount on their website...
-I REALLY like this style, does not obstruct the bed when the tire is not mounted.

Pic from underneath the bed:

Another one of this style from FabTech:

If only they had one where the center post was removable so the bed is more useful.

It looks to me like with the KarTek and the FabTec all you would have is a small hole in the floor of the bed with the tire removed... no obstruction at all.

Yep. I would really like to install one of those two. Plus, they will work with a bed cover.

Cool, do you know if the center stud is counter sunk or does it stick up through the bed?

Ray, when the tire is not in the bed for the Kartek or Fab-Tech versions, all that is in the bed is a hole. The second picture in my first post was taken from underneath the bed. Does this answer your question?

its all under the bed as what was mentioned. at first i thought it was just laying there till i saw the spindle...way cheaper than a tiregate..and if you are just cruising around town and want to use the bed to haul anything...you can always remove the spare and install it underneath and all is well. With my tiregate, i will have to remount to the outboard direction...which isnt hard at all..but this seems to be way cost effective in comparison to. My bud only but paid 150 bucks for his entire setup...drilled and mounted everything on his own, very simple to do.
