I'm looking to trade in my 2010 for a new 2014. The luxury package now comes with a factory remote start installed. I understand that the remote start is just a module. Can the factory remote start be removed without any complications?

I can explain... I work in what some people would say is a bad part of town. I always had viper 2 way (1 mile range) remote start/alarm systems installed on my trucks. I have every add on sensor that DEI offers including a closed loop running through all of my aftermarket lighting. I could just install a regular alarm without the remote start, but think I will miss the 2 way remote and its extra long range.

with the correct interface module, you can interface with the oem alarm system. its a much better solution than removing oem parts. the dball2 and whatever viper alarm system you are getting will have a seamless integration with your oem key. pair that with the vsm250 and you have gps tracking on your smartphone.
