WTF 1week Old 37 Avalanche and rear end all rusted from factory.

Installed new Method 305s and find the complete rear end severely rusted. Anyone else come across this. So disappointed in the lack of QC. Called dealer and they asked if I wanted a new rear end or sand and painted. Thoughts?

My 19 looks better than your new truck with 50k on it. It must have sat outside waiting for parts. I would get it all replaced but check the rest of the truck first.

we know what you mean and of course we see well thanks to your pics. The factory protection is not good at all, on some parts there is no paint. For the price, it's not serious . There are cheap cars for 15K $ which have better underneath/frame protection... Do like some of us have done, put a real protection paint against rust! In your case , ask dealer do it , seriously. It's a shame to deliver a truck in that state when new. I have begun to protect my 20'S bcs I hate rust...

Don't let the dealer touch it. Some dude had his rusted axles painted by the dealer and they sprayed his fox shocks black.

ive yet to see a single gen 3 without at least that much rust on it on the lot. Guess they just get peppered with salt or something on the convoys.
My '18 had 80k miles and didnt look anything like that, my '20 besides some weird bolts were rust free completely.

But anyway, it looks just like surface rust on those pics so some little prep and some black rustoleum will have that looking good, if the rest of the frame is good i wouldnt worry.

Id buy a few cans of fluid film and be done with it. Try to get some ford pass points from the dealer. Don’t replace the rear end. That will open up a can you don’t want to deal with.

Mine was the same way... I used POR15 and painted it on. Took about 30 min or so. Will last for a very long time.

I don't understand when ppl say dont let the dealer touch it.

I am mostly anti-dealer but when there is a warranty in place that covers bump to bump I like free work.
