Wiring cap third brake light

Hello FRF,

I finally got my cap on my 2020. Now looking to wire the cap brake light and looking for a stand alone wire to tap into. I’ve googled these 2 methods does the FRF brain trust approve of these or are there others?

The only circuit that can be used is CPB04 (VT/RD). It is capped off and taped to the harness in the driver’s side of the engine compartment near connector C1799, which is the connector for the brake vacuum sensor.

In order to prevent circuit overload or voltage back feed to the PCM, a relay and diode must be used.

Yes, but on 2017 models is not blunt cut/capped off. It goes directly to the Trailer Brake Control Module.
