Hey Im not denying that Ford has gone with the smaller turbo engines in just about everything they have out on the market. Im just saying that they still can and know how to make a good SC V8. It may not be as good or widely used as GM or Dodge but at least they still do it.

The one thing that you might forget is the restrictions the Government puts on the Fuel Economy that the Auto Makers have to shoot for, so that drives them to come up with solutions to meet those guidelines. And that's the big reason we are at the point to where we are currently. If the past regulations were not put in place and the Auto Makers didn't have to meet the Fuel Economy standards that were set, then Im sure instead of a TTV6 we would have a Gen 2 V8 Raptor.

Really reaching here, but what about a TT V8 instead of blown? Then we'd be talking my language....(yes I know that is a 0% chance given Ford's experience is with SC)

Current EcoBoost is no slouch especially when tuned. My money is PowerBoost Eco. The HP will be just over 500 HP but TQ will be well over 600. Tuned I bet it will give the TRX a run. The 5.2 S/C might be limit run (again might). Ford will lose some sales to Ram but the TRX price will hurt them in overall sales numbers and if Ford does offer a limited number of 5.2 that will cut into those numbers even more.

Just noticed it has the sensors in the front and sides. So should have park assist etc.

The 2021 F-150’s have a self driving capability. These sensors probably aid in this functionality.

Looks like this truck is running on 35’s. Unless there is clearance underneath and production trucks will come with or offer the owner the ability to run 37’s with a stock suspension.

Everybody who is even remotely knowledgeable in the car enthusiast world knows why ford didn’t put that motor in the Ford GT...... are you that naive or that uneducated?

And everyone should also know WHY they had to use it then?

and everyone should also F’n realize at this point Ford themselves - along w/ every other non-fanboy- understands that they’ve transitioned well away from leaning on V8 engines when it comes to their “cutting edge” designs & the bulk of their performance portfolio

yeah it’s great the GT500 has 760hp and all. So doesn’t any camaro (or mustang GT for that matter) w/ a blower lol

if Ford was confident in relying on V8 engines - forced induction or otherwise - to produce the same combo of power/efficiency/reliability as they were in the smaller displacement EB turbo (or future PW hybrid) platforms then they certainly wouldn’t have spent all the time/$$$/energy developing these other engines or they would’ve relied on cylinder deactivation & less rotating internals etc like GM-Mopar for the last few years & met their cafe standards while still holding their market share.

but they’re not confident their V8s could compete @ the same level of efficiency meeting performance & reliability that their competition has so they chose another route.....I’d say it’s been a good choice thus far for Ford

Even if they make a 5.2 SCd Raptor- won’t be me in it lol! I’ll wait for the bugs to get worked out on both the TRX & Gen3

Yup. Another good thing is that by the time gen 3 is available for MSRP or below, used TRXs will be cheap cheap cheap if they follow the typical FCA-Hellcat depreciation curve. So we'll have choices at that point.

I was driving through Moab back in August and saw a convoy of camouflaged Ford F-150s being led by a naked 2021 F-150. I believe the camo ones were the Gen3 Raptor as the 2021 regular F-150s had already been released. Didn't have enough time to get pictures :(

I love how enthusiastic the "it's gonna have a 5.2 SC engine" crowd is. Every time a spy shot or video is posted its the same story, "I can hear the supercharger", "see the exhaust? definitely gonna have the 5.2" and so on. I hate to break it to you guys but the Gen 3 raptor is going to have the PowerBoost engine.
