I'm going on a trip to Mexico July 5th. If I get the 5 star tune how much will the Eco tune help me out? It's 950 miles to get there. Also gas there sucks ass! so would I just set the tune back to stock? Would it get shipped by Friday?

Don't get your hopes up. I would not factor in any improved fuel economy with any tune...I run a an SCT with 5 star 93 performance...the tune kicks ass AND I average 10.7...

If your only reason for the tune is to improve your mpg...stay stock

Most of my driving is city, and I drive it fairly hard, but not that bad...I would go with a combination of the above...glad I have a short commute!

I drove out to South Carolina and back 2 years ago and I had the Eco tune their and stock back.
Got better gas millage with the stock tune. Took the same way back and drove pretty much the same, 5 over in every area.

Daily driving everywhere is with the 91 Performance tune and if I go on long trips I'll switch back to stock.

I wouldn't be surprised if it got 1-2mpg more. That would take a lot of wind resistance off the truck.

So:

Bed cover =$1,000
Gas=$3.80pg
Gas savings=1.5mpg
Current mpg=10.5
New mpg=12

Gallons to break even on bed cover cost= 1000/(1.5/10.5) *3.80=1,886.79 gallons to break even

1,886.79 *3.80=$7,169.80 spent on fuel for cover to pay for itself.

1,886.79 *12=22,641 miles driven to pay for cover

This does not include oil, repairs and maintenance....

So we would need to spend $7k in fuel and drive roughly 22.5k miles to have the bed cover pay for itself at a cost of a $1k

Not saying that is the only reason to purchase a bed cover...
