Hi guys and gals, I have had my 2010 for a year and a half. It has about 97k miles and and was wondering if it is to late to change the oil and filter on the transmission or even if it's necessary? It does lag on some take offs. Which worries me.I would hate to ruin my truck.. I love it!! Ha ha

I have about the same mileage and ive never changed the tranny oil, have heard either do it often or don't do it at all. no issues with mine. Are you sure the lag is in the trans? or software? Try putting the truck in sport mode and see if the lag is the same.

I think my sport mode button is broken if that should change something. I know traction control kicks in hair later but thats it. Am i wrong or what?
I've had this same button in other vehicles and difference was huge once pushed but don't see any difference in this one.

In sport mode the truck is more responsive to revving, holds the gears longer at higher rpms , etc.

Are you talking about sport mode for traction control? I don't think that changes anything in the transmission. I checked the raptor supplement

No, not talking about traction control only. I'm not at my truck but have used "sport mode" lots and it's in the little quick hand guide with the owners manual, showing how to engage sport mode. As far as I know there is only one sport mode. I have a 2010 so don't know if that has changed.

Let us know when you find out the procedure. My 2012 only has the traction control "sport mode" that I know of. If it has a real sport mode then I've been missing out!!

FYI, in the days when transmission fluid and motor oil wasn't synthetic and the standard motor oil change interval was 3,000 miles, the standard transmission maintenance interval was 30,000 miles.

No matter how forgiving your arithmetic, a modern transmission with 97,000 miles on the original factory transmission fluid is overdue for maintenance.
