Never considered that, but for what this truck is intended, this is even better than a locker!

I am STOKED! Already have mine built in the order bank, just need to hit the go button!

What exactly does the torsen do? Will it apply power to both wheels at the same time? Does it act as a limited slip? Sorry not familiar with this product.

Off-Road Technology

Electronic Locking Rear Differential
• Standard on the SVT Raptor and helps deliver
excellent off-road capability
• Designed to solidly lock the rear axles when the
customer wants
• Controlled by the Electronic Shift-On-the-Fly (ESOF)
instrument panel-mounted switch
• An electromagnetic coil activates a mechanical lock
inside the rear differential housing to solidly lock the
rear axle shafts together
• Once the axle shafts are locked, torque is equally
distributed to each rear axle
• The electronic locking differential will disengage at
speeds above 25 mph, in 4x4 High and at speeds
above 62 mph in 4x4 Low

TORSEN® Front Differential
• Standard on the SVT Raptor, the TORSEN (torquesensing)
differential uses a parallel helical gear
system to sense torque differences between the
front axles/wheels and provides maximum torque to
the wheel with the most traction
• The differential continuously manages power
delivery between the front axles/wheels helping to
maximize available traction over a wide variety of
surface conditions
• By providing a better balance of power, not only
between the front wheels but between the front and
the electronic locking differential-controlled rear
wheels as well, overall vehicle acceleration, handling
and traction are significantly improved
• Includes aluminum differential cover

Chassis

Long-travel Suspension Upgrades
• FOX Racing ShoxTM help contribute to increased
suspension travel
– Front suspension travel is 11.2"
– Rear suspension travel is 12.1"
• Front and rear track width is increased 7" over F-150
• Improved tie-rods and ball joints
• New microcellular bump stops help SVT Raptor soak
up rough terrain
Coil-over-shock Double-wishbone
Front Suspension
• The standard F-150
double-wishbone
design helps
provide excellent
steering stiffness
and roll damping,
allowing for precise
suspension tuning,
steering response
and vehicle control
• FOX Racing Shox
• Raptor-specific microcellular bump stops
• Coil-over-shock springs were also designed and
engineered with off-road performance in mind by
making them longer, helping to increase the total
front suspension travel by almost 3 inches
• Larger, robust, cast aluminum lower control arms,
with the SVT logo cast in, are light in weight, yet very
strong, and help provide the additional track width
for improved vehicle stability
• Heavy-duty upper control arms are included to
complete the front suspension design
Hydraulic Rack-and-pinion Power Steering
• Features a wider steering rack to take advantage of
the wider front track
• Includes a new power boost curve to help the driver
maintain control whether driving on paved streets or
on washboard trails
• Rack-and-pinion design is engineered to provide
low turning effort and good returnability and
handling characteristics
• Road feel is improved at higher speeds with a
reduced level of steering assist
FOX Racing Shox
• High-performance FOX Racing Shox are featured on
the front and rear suspension
• Incorporate a patented triple internal bypass valve
system to provide position/terrain-sensitive damping
for the shock absorbers
• At 2.5" in diameter, the FOX Racing Shox are
considerably larger in diameter than the original
equipment shocks to house the large bypass valves
as well as additional oil critical to helping keep the
shocks running cooler during rapid cycling – as when
off-roading
• Softer damping at normal ride height improves
traction, stability and comfort
• Stiffer damping near or at the end of the shock
absorber stroke allows the truck to be driven more
aggressively without bottoming out the suspension
• Fox Racing Shox are a key factor in the SVT Raptor
offering an impressive amount of suspension travel
– 11.2" of front travel
– 12.1" of rear travel
Optimized Hotchkiss Rear Suspension
• The rear suspension on SVT Raptor uses a proven
optimized Hotchkiss design, standard on all F-150
models, that has been improved with the addition of
the following upgraded features and components:
– FOX Racing Shox mounted outside the frame rails
to provide maximum axle and steering control and
to minimize body lean
– Rear shock absorbers include a large external oil
reservoir to aid in keeping the shocks running cool.
They also include a shock rod guard to prevent
damage due to off-road flying debris
– Microcellular bump stops
– Leaf springs are 64.5" long and 3" wide to help
provide towing stability, and specially tuned to
withstand the rigors of off-road driving while at
the same time being flexible enough to provide a
smooth, everyday ride
– Track width has been increased to 73.6" to match the
front, helping to provide a confident, wide stance

The Torsen differential is simply a torque multiplier that works through the use of friction generated by thrust forces from the internal gearing.* It multiplies what torque is available from the wheel that is starting to spin-up or lose traction and sends that available torque, multiplied by the TBR, to the slower turning wheel with the better traction.

Correct. The torsen basically acts like a gear driven limited slip. I had a Detroit/Eaton Truetrac in the rear of my Nissan Titan. It was a good differential. Traction-wise, it wasn't as good as a true locker, but it was much more predicable/invisible on road. Unlike a locker, the Torsen is always "on".

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Hummer H1 was/is equipped with a similar version of the Torsen front differential. How cool is that??
