DFW Raptors is hosting the Texas Hill Country Run. Expect an easy, scenic route that should take most of the day.

Meet up at Bayside Fresh Market, 9710 FM2147, Horseshoe Bay, TX 78657 at July 11th, 9:00am. Departing at 9:30 am sharp. Drive near Horseshoe Bay to begin trail. The first section of the trail is mostly asphalt with a little bit of dirt. Throughout the entire trail, there will be lots of cattle guards we will be crossing over, and lots of wildlife on the roads to watch out for. We will update yall on which radio frequency we will be on. The trail begins off of hwy 71 and county road 310. This trail will take you from Horseshoe Bay to Mason and then Mason to Fredericksburg. We will try and stop in Mason to pick up some food depending on what restaurants we can order from. Expect 3-4 hours on the trail without access to food, water, or bathrooms. We will stop at certain scenic points or every 1.5 hours for breaks, and we strongly suggest bringing some snacks and water. After lunch we will take a right on 1723 and head towards the Llano River, then make a right on 2389 and social distance hang out on the Llano River for a little bit. After the river, we will start the last section of the trail. This is where the real fun begins. The trail will end in Fredericksburg and we will depart for safe travels to home.

THERE WILL BE NO JUMPS ON THE TRAILS, this trail is meant to be a safe and fun trail for all raptor owners regardless of driver experience.

Some recommended items to bring for any trail run.

1. Recovery gear (Always nice to have just in case)
2. Handheld Radio. As we can communicate during the trail. (We will be using the FRS/GMRS frequencies)
3. Fire Extinguisher
4. Food and Water.

We want to make this trail run a safe and enjoyable event for all attendees. By doing so, we can continue to have future events for all Raptor Owners in Texas.

If anyone has any questions feel free to contact Nabeel, Rishi, or Russell.

Looking forward to meeting with you all!

Not for 2020, no. We want to scout out other possible locations and lead expeditions on those routes, but we haven't had the time to evaluate other options yet.

That said, the run itself is very tame overall - one truck ran it in 2wd the entire time, due to 4wd problems. He wouldn't have gotten stuck except he went off the main path into sand - that's when he found out his 4wd wasn't working. I drove across the same area in 4A and didn't get stuck.

In case you want to run it yourself, and want to know what to expect, I've got a video of the trip up that'll give you all the highlights.
