Tailgate Won’t Open While Truck is On

Picked up a 2019 a few days ago with 16,000 miles

They found an ‘open circuit on the actuator and repaired it’ no charge. Must’ve pinched a wire or bumped something loose when they did the recall job. Works now so

Did yours make any odd noises before it stopped? I had to do the button dance recently and when it finally opened it seemed quite loud. Almost metal on metal not the normal quick locking sound.

No noises. The button just did nothing one day.

Just an FYI, when they do the tailgate update they add a relay that is located in the area of the cab air filter.

If you remove the relay from its housing and put a jumper wire across the switched terminals, you can open the tailgate with the engine running again.

You will still have to double tap the soft button on the tailgate to open it and if you did the upfitter mod to open your tail gate it will work again as well.

Is it just a standard relay? With this config?
