I had mine in to look at something else and they told me about this so I had them go ahead and do it. He said they have to cut the wiring near the tailgate and replace it.
Not sure how much confidence I have in them properly splicing!?

If it's due to an issue with it unlocking itself the they would be liable for any and all associated damage.

Not confident in having anyone touch it. My truck has ceramic coating I know that has to be stripped to paint or something like that in that area no thanks. I used touch up but still looks like shit. This sucks.

Late to this post but if you have an issue with a 2015 on up tailgate opening unintentionally then Ford will cover repairs. I had the tailgate motor go out on my 2016 Platinum which wouldn't let me open it, so they repaired it under the tailgate issue. Then I traded it for my 2020 Lead Foot lol.
