Tailgate Release

[Freeon]

Is there no tailgate release button inside the cab? Saw one on F-250 so looked in my truck for and didn't see it.

this is unacceptable on a $75k truck

I agree that it's unacceptable. Especially that the F-250 has it. So they have the parts for it.

A forum member here made his own kit using one of the auxiliary switches. Hell sells and it is reasonable. Lots of guys have installed it and love it. >> https://www.fordraptorforum.com/threads/gen-2-upfitter-switch-tailgate-release-kit.59853/

Thanks for this link. Just ordered one.

I too was shocked that there was no way to release the tailgate from inside the cabin. As far as that kit goes, would it require the vehicle to be in the "on" position for it to work since the upfitter switches are not active when the vehicle is off?

I like having it on the remote and watching it drop down from the outside just in case I’m too close to my house or another vehicle etc...

Yes, unless you wire the upfitters to have always on power. Thats a separate mod.

Why not use the key fob?

Why not use the key fob?

Keyfob is usually in my pocket which is a pain to get to while sitting down vs a simple, easy to reach button inside the cabin.

Just installed the mod yesterday. Very clear instructions and easy to do.

Not being an ass, but what is the use case for this guys? I just can't imagine why I would want to open the tailgate when I'm sitting in the cab.

Maybe for when my wife is carrying my case beer from the shop and I don't want get up because that section of "In the air tonight" by Phil Collins is about to drop?

Personal preference. Some like it. Some don’t. I rarely use mine, but on the rare occasion I do use it, it is useful. Is it a need? No.
