Sync screen not dimming in night mode

I just dimmed mine down last week after seeing this thread and so far, the screen seems to be holding the setting whenever I power up the truck. Autodim is on

I take that back. Drove tonight after having driven during the day, when screen was on bright/day. Screen started on bright and I had to use the dimmer switches to turn it back down.

However, started the truck again later in the night, after I had turned it down, and it started up in the correct dim setting.

So I wonder if the last setting, whether day or night, affects it
